This vintage  image  in our Historic Eck Robertson Fiddler Prints and Posters  range captures Alexander “Eck” Campbell Robertson, a pivotal figure in American music history. Born in Delaney, Arkansas, in 1887 and raised in the Texas Panhandle, Eck Robertson grew up immersed in frontier life and his father’s fiddle-playing. Consequently, the rich musical traditions of the South deeply shaped his sound. Historic Eck Robertson Fiddler Poster and Prints-The Cowboy Fiddler By the age of sixteen, Robertson’s skills had significantly matured. He soon toured with a traveling Medicine Show, entertaining crowds with his unique fiddling talents. His act, which made the fiddle “talk,” often featured him in Western garb, earning him the nickname ‘The Cowboy Fiddler.’ His performances blended innovation and tradition, making him a beloved figure on stage. Breakthrough with Victor Records In 1922, after a groundbreaking audition with Victor Records, Robertson recorded several iconic tracks. Together with fellow fiddler Henry C. Gilliland, he produced celebrated songs such as ‘Arkansas Traveler’ and ‘Sallie Gooden.’ Unfortunately, later recordings with his family did not reach the same level of success, leaving Robertson disappointed with his early recording career. Historic Eck Robertson Fiddler Poster and Prints Key Recordings with Victor Records: ‘Arkansas Traveler’ ‘Sallie Gooden’ ‘Turkey in the Straw’
