A beautiful earring set from our collection of Zuni Native American jewelry from Zuni Pueblo in New Mexico. They are handmade in sterling silver. It is an inlay style earring set made with Turquoise, Onyx, Mother of Pearl, and Coral by Zuni artist Marchelle Panteah. Zuni jewelers are well known for their exacting lapidary work that celebrates the stones and shells in mosaic designs. Stone setting techniques include cluster work, needlepoint, channel and mosaic inlay. Silver was introduced in their jewelry style around the 1870’s, after silversmith work was learned from Navajos. Turquoise, mother of pearl, spiny oyster shells, lapis, coral, onyx and man-made opal are some of the materials used in the outstanding Zuni jewelry.
